Here's some of the bugs I experience now under Safari 3.1.2:
Also I find the new WYSIWYG editor awkward to use and I can't see any place to set XHTML editing as a preference on my account.
Obviously you guys need to test these things before releasing them live to bedevil your users. It would be best for you to roll back to the previous release until your act is back together.
I totally agree with you on that one.
I've been encountering problems with this for two days now and it's aggrivating me to no end.
The only problem I have been having is in articles that have deleted comments, sometimes the flow gets screwy. I mostly use Firefox, but I also use Safari from home. And I much prefer the new editor: the live preview in the old XHTML error was a source of constant frustration: its preview often did not match what was published, and the Javascript implementing it was quite inefficient and could cause either of my browsers to slow to crawl, not to mention what it did when trying to edit on an iPhone*.
*I haven't tried the new interface from my phone yet, so this may or may not have improved with the new editor.
Ok ... a stupid question... Why can't I get the "link" feature to work?
The link feature works. First, type the word(s) that you want to use to make the hyperlink. Open the page you want to link to in a separate tab or window, highlight the link, and copy it. Next, highlight the word(s) in your comment that you're using to form the hyperlink. Click the link button. Paste (CTRL-V) your URL into the Link URL field. Select the target as same window or new window (I like opening in a new window). You don't have to put anything in the Title field. Click Insert.
Works like a charm.
Or just click the use xhtml mode link to switch to the old way
These meta articles are not supposed to be published to "All of Newsvine".
It is more of a bug report than an article. Did you send it off to the staff too?
Just use the "Report Bug" button on the upper right of each page. They probably already know, but more reports may raise the priority of them.
I experience missing vote counts, at random. For example, AdipicAcid's count shows, cranegirl's doesn't and Jay's does. Also, if I Post Comment & Vote, the Post Comment button grays out, and the Post & Vote button doesn't. Using latest Chromium on XP.
I'm experiencing the same thing myself...
I just have one question:
So is there a way to read all of the comments on one single page?
No. Stop whining. <grin>
I have a old (in computer years) eMac (OSX 10.3.9) and Firefox 2.something - newsvine has never worked well on Safari for me. I notice freezeups, too. Since traffic has been very high lately, I can't tell if the problems are from the new stuff or the increase in volume.
Newsvine has always worked fine on my Macs. But, by the time NV was created, I was already on OS X 10.4. I have no issues with either Safari 3 or Firefox 3 (or FF2 before that).
I figgered as much, but, gosh darn it and jeepers, if the doggone Hubble telescope can operate with a l'i'l ol' 486, then newsvine oughta work on my not-so-old Mac. You betcha!*
*(Heavens to Betsy, what the heck's happenin' to me? And what's this mascara? and the Aquanet. . . they've gotten to me, must read a New Yorker. . . Noooooooo!)
I do have the latest version of Safari and FF3 on my older PowerPC iMac (10.4). It runs just fine there. Maybe your issues have something to do with 10.3 Panther. I have been running 10.4 Tiger since it was released in 2005. I think that pre-dates NV by at least a few months. I joined here relatively early on in January 2006.
I'm sure it does. Memory may be the problem. I have the 1.25 GHz powerPC G$, with a paltry (in this day & age) 256 MB DDR SDRAM thus precluding installing Tiger - and at the Apple store they don't have what ever it is I need to double or quadruple it for this eMac. Harrumph. Henry Ford would be stunned at this amplification of planned obsolescence. Or senescence. Whatev. ;)
You're in Easy Mode. If you prefer, you can use XHTML Mode instead. |
